Final Destination 4

Team Hoyt, Father and son completed Marathon

Le Tour De France 2009 Stage 15 - Pontarlier > Verbier 207km

Spain's 2007 champion Alberto Contador of Astana took possession of the Tour de France yellow jersey after a superb solo attack and victory on the 15th stage in the Swiss Alps on Sunday.
Contador, winning his first individual stage of this year's race, attacked a small group of favourites containing teammate Lance Armstrong 5.6km from the summit of the 8.8km climb to the summit finish of Verbier.
The Spaniard's move shook up the favourites, and dropped Australian Cadel Evans and defending champion Carlos Sastre of Spain further down the overall standings.
Luxembourg's Andy Schleck was the only rider to counter Contador's move, but the Saxo Bank leader's effort was in vain.
"He went off like a rocket," said Schleck, who limited his losses to finish line 43secs behind in second place and is now fifth overall at 2:26.
Seven-time champion Armstrong lagged in at 1:35 behind, only a handful of seconds behind two-time race runner-up Evans, who was at 1:26.
Overall Standings after Stage 15:
1. Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa|Astana) - 63:17:56
2. Lance Armstrong (USA|Astana) - +01:37
3. Bradley Wiggins (GBr|Garmin - Slipstream) - +01:46

Le Tour De France 2009 Stage 14 - Colmar > Besançon 199 km

Serguei Ivanov of the Katusha team won stage 14 of the 2009 Tour de France, taking a solo win from his breakaway companions at the end of the 199km race between Colmar and Besançon.
Columbia-HTC's George Hincapie moved into second overall, just five seconds behind AG2R-La Mondiale's Rinaldo Nocentini.
Ahead of the first day of three in the Alps, the battle for overall victory was again put on the back burner as the teams so far devoid of stage success went on the hunt. However, after an early 13-man breakaway was reduced to 12 and went on to build a significant lead on the peloton, it was Hincapie who came through to almost replace Nocentini, as the new race leader.
With Irish teammate Nicholas Roche in the front group -- which held a seven-minute lead at the summit of the day's second and last climb 87km from the finish -- AG2R was not obliged to chase the leaders down. But after some prompting by Nocentini, and the Astana team of Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong, AG2R finally put three riders on the front of the chasing bunch with a little less than 50 kilometres to race.
Overall Standings after Stage 14:
1. Rinaldo Nocentini (Ita) AG2R La Mondiale - 58:13:52
2. George Hincapie (USA) Team Columbia - HTC - +00:05
3. Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa) Astana - +00:06

8. Tony Martin (Ger) Team Columbia - HTC - +01:00

10. Andy Schleck (Lux) Team Saxo Bank - +01:49
Le Tour De France 2009 Stage 13 - Vittel Colmar 200 km

Australian-born German Heinrich Haussler (Cervelo) claimed his maiden stage win on the Tour de France Friday as rainy conditions put a dampener on an anticipated battle for the yellow jersey.
Haussler was part of an early breakaway on the 200km stage 13 from Vittel to Colmar in the hilly Vosges region before he went off on his own with two climbs still to negotiate.
After coming over the summit of the category one-rated Col du Platzerwasel in the company of Sylvain Chavanel, the Cervelo team rider attacked on the descent to quickly open up a gap on the Frenchman.
QuickStep all-rounder Chavanel battled in vain on the Col du Bannstein, but the gap grew and grew as Haussler's steady rhythm took him up and over the 2.1km hill and then over the 8.7km long Col du Firstplan.
Although victory was virtually assured Haussler made sure not to risk his chances on a technical descent made even more hazardous by the rain.
Smiling on the way in, Haussler's grins made way for a deluge of tears as he crossed the finish line to hand his Cervelo team their second stage win on their debut after Thor Hushovd's victory in Barcelona.
With more than 211.5km of racing over slightly rolling terrain ahead, the attacks came thick and fast in a first hour in which the peloton covered 48km.
Overall Standings after Stage 13:
1. Rinaldo Nocentini (ITA), AGR-La Mondiale - 53:30:30
2. Alberto Contador (ESP) Astana - +00:06
3. Lance Armstrong (USA), Astana - +00:08
4. Andreas Kloden (GER) Astana - +00:54
5. Levi Leipheimer (USA), Astana - +00:54
6. Tony Martin (GER), Columbia-Highroad - +1:00
7. Bradley Wiggins (GBR) Garmin-Slipstream - +1:01
8. Christian Vande Velde (USA), Garmin-Slipstream - +1:24
9. Andy Schleck (LUX), Saxo Bank - +1:49
10. Vincenzo Nibali (ITA), Liquigas- +1:54
